Baseus Picogo Qi2 MagSafe Power Bank Review: My All-Day Travel Battery
I bought the Baseus Picogo before a trip to Japan, where I knew I’d be out exploring all day and leaning on my phone for maps, translation and photos. It earned its place in my bag.
MagSafe that just works
The magnetic connection snaps onto the back of my iPhone, and wireless charging works well. No cables hanging off the phone while I’m walking around. It also has a soft back, which is a nice touch that helps protect the phone.
A full day of travel
In Japan it helped a lot. Long days of navigation and photos would have drained my phone well before dinner, and the Picogo kept it going.
Pass-through charging is the hidden feature
My favorite feature is that it can charge itself while it’s charging another device. At night I’d snap it onto my phone and plug the power bank into the wall. By morning both were charged, and I’d only used one cable and one plug. In hotel rooms with too few outlets, or with a travel adapter that only has a couple of ports, that’s a real win.
Charge it before you need it
The one downside is that it loses charge fairly quickly when it isn’t being used. You can’t leave it in a drawer for a month and expect it to still be mostly full. If you have a trip or a long day coming up, plan ahead and charge it first. For the price, that’s not a big deal.
Who should buy it
If you have a MagSafe-compatible iPhone and spend long days away from an outlet, whether traveling, at events or just out and about, this is an easy pick.
Verdict
The Picogo does what a MagSafe battery should, and pass-through charging makes it even more useful when traveling. Just remember to charge it before you head out. It’s staying in my bag.
